Signs of Cocaine Abuse
At first
glance, you may not really be able to take notice of it.
However, closer scrutiny, with particular emphasis on looking
for the most common signs of cocaine abuse, will help you become
aware that either you or your loved one may be under the spell
of this highly abused drug. When cocaine is begun to be abused,
certain signs of cocaine abuse will eventually surface. Once
these signs present themselves, it is basically a wake-up call
for you or your loved one to seek proper treatment
The signs of
cocaine abuse are quite varied. They usually range from the
basic physical symptoms to the more difficult psychological
signals. The physical signs will usually include a combination
of the following: change in eating as well as sleeping habits,
frequent requests for additional money, red bloodshot eyes,
runny nose or frequent instances of sniffing, and an overall
change in physical appearance.
On the other
hand, a loss of general interest in certain activities which
involve the family or the school, a significant drop in school
grades, a change in the set of friends, and a withdrawn,
careless, or depressed attitude toward life may well fall into
the psychological signs of cocaine abuse.
In both the
physical and the psychological signs of cocaine abuse, a common
element is change. While change is admittedly inevitable,
certain alterations need to be seriously given attention,
especially when they involve changes that make you a less
likable person than you were before. More often than not, this
will usually point to the possibility that you might be
indulging in an illegal activity, like drug abuse.
While
cocaine addiction is a social problem that continues to pester
us, early detection of the more common signs of cocaine abuse
will greatly help in reducing the number of people who
eventually get hooked on the drug. Hopefully, when we take
notice of the signs of cocaine abuse in its early stage, we can
assure our loved ones that we or they will not fall into the
more serious cocaine trap, which is cocaine overdose.
